New York based SMA, a professional non-profit organization, is an internationally recognized, leading forum for the arbitration and mediation of maritime and commercial disputes. The SMA  provides the maritime industry with experienced commercial professionals who resolve disputes in an impartial, timely and cost-efficient manner. The SMA charges no administrative fee to the parties for its services, nor does the SMA administer the arbitration proceeding. Disputants may select arbitrators or mediators from the SMA Membership Roster on the SMA website, which provides the professional credentials of each SMA member. The SMA's Arbitration Rules, Mediation Rules and Salvage Rules may be accessed on the SMA website as well as the SMA's quarterly electronic publication, "The Arbitrator".
